MedPro (2.16i) User Security Right Definitions
Staff Maintenance
Last Name: Users Last Name.
First Name: Users First Name.
Phone: Users Home or Work Number.
Type: The user types are defined in the Maintenance > Staff Types menu.
Staff Sequence Number: This is the number to the right of the staff type. This number is unique to each user and is used for tracking and reporting uses.

First Name: Users First Name.
Middle Initial: Users Middle Initial.
Last Name: Users Last Name.
Title: Users Job Title.
Type: The user type. (User types are defined in the Maintenance > Staff Types menu).
Initials: Users initials. Entering initials for pharmacy system users is required and we recommend entering user initials for everyone since they are used in a few reports.
Phone: Users Phone Number.
Social Security: Users Social Security Number.
License: Providers License Number.
Expiration Date: The expiration date of the users license number.
Exclude Counseling Messages on Scripts?: Will not print counseling messages on electronic prescriptions. This only applies to sites writing electronic scripts.
UPIN (HCFA): Universal Personal Identification Number for HCFA. M Care Number: Providers Medicare Number.
Supv: Users’ supervisor name.
Takes Appointments?: User is a provider that takes appointments. Required for a provider or non provider that will have templates (schedules) built for them.
Fed ID Number: Federal Tax ID number.
Cash Drawer Code: Used for assigning a drawer to the user when the multiple cash
drawer setup is used.
Stack Appointments?: Allows Provider to Stack Appointments in their schedule without getting a warning.
Does Transactions?: This allows a user to receive credit for patient transactions (Service Codes). This security is NOT necessary for a user to enter transactions into a patients record. A user with this security will have their name displayed
in the “Staff” drop down list box when adding a transaction.
Secure this User: Check this box if your site uses divisions, then select the division from the drop down list box that the user works in. Leave both the check box and division blank if your site does not use divisions.
Security
Login Id: Users assigned Login Id.
Password: Users Login Password.
Password Expiration: The date a users password will expire. The time frame definition is controlled in the profile maintenance window.
System Supervisor: Can delete Transactions, merge accounts, change account numbers (social security number), and delete appointments.
+ Maintenance: Allows a user to access the Staff list and security window in Maintenance. Super-User for Security: This allows the user to see all of the divisions for (CAPS) Across Divisions sites that use divisions.
Template Rights: Allows the user to create/modify templates. If this is checked, a provider can still have a schedule created by someone with template rights, they just won’t be able to modify templates.
Maintenance Rights: Ability to add/modify maintenance menu items.
Billing Rights: Allows a user to add transactions to a patients account. Only View own schedule: Allows a user to only see their schedule and will not allow access to …and no one else the compare grid.
Appointment Rights: User will be able to make appointments, cancel appointments, and reschedule appointments.
Lab/Xray/Rx Ordering: Gives a user the ability to order through the Add Transaction Wizard.
X-Ray System: Gives a user the right to open the X-Ray interface window. Patient Edit Rights: Ability to edit/add patient information.
Lab System: Allows the user to use MedLab (MedPro’s Laboratory Module).
Pharmacy System: Allows the user to use MedRx (MedPro’s Pharmacy Module).
Chart Rights: Rights to order charts.
Department Supervisor: This security is used in the following combinations-
+ Billing Rights: Allows a use the reversal feature (button) in the patient transaction tab.
+Lab System: Allows the Lab system supervisor to amend transaction result values and reset a test back to Entered.
+ X-Ray: Allows the X-Ray system supervisor to amend transaction result values.
+ Pharmacy System: Allows the user to set the Rx password for the Drug-Drug interaction warnings.
Prov. View Rx: This security allows a provider to view a patient’s pharmacy history. This security only applies to sites that are using the Pharmacy system.
Allow deleting of schedule: This will allow the provider to delete appointment from there schedule.
HIPAA Access Rights
Updates Demographics: This security will allow the user to view the Patient tab and
the Summary tab of the patients Summary Screen. (Tabs 1 & 2)
View Appointments: Will allow the user to access the Patient Appt/History tab. (Tab 3)
View Transactions: This security will allow the user to access the Transactions, Lab, Rx/X-Ray, Lab Tests, and Immunize tab’s. (Tabs 4, 7, 9, and 10) Without this security the user will not be able to access the patients transactions in any way.
View EMR Info: This security will cover all remaining securities on a patient, denying access to Notes, Ticklers, EMR, and Referrals.
Access NPP: This will allow access to the patients NPP for adding deleteing or changing the patients status
Staff Schedule Assignment: A user can be limited to who’s schedule they can look at in medpro. By highlighting the patients name clicking the staff button
